BACKGROUND

Energy transition is a critical pathway to achieving sustainable development and mitigating the impacts of climate change. This one-day program, organized by the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS) aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the energy transition process. It will focus on strategies, challenges, and opportunities in transitioning to a sustainable energy future. The programme includes expert-led sessions, interactive discussions, and panel sessions that address key aspects of the energy transition.

The energy transition represents a pivotal shift in the global energy landscape, moving from fossil fuel dependency to a sustainable future powered by renewable energy sources. This transition is not just a technical or economic challenge but a holistic transformation that encompasses environmental, social, and political dimensions. The overall agenda aims to provide a thorough exploration of this complex yet essential process, focusing on its global significance, the pathways to achieve it, and the multifaceted impacts it entails.

EVENT DESCRIPTION

The overarching theme of this session is to illustrate the interconnectedness of energy transition with sustainable development goals (SDGs). It is well understood that energy is a critical enabler for development, influencing everything from economic growth to social equity and environmental protection. Therefore, transitioning to cleaner energy sources is fundamental to achieving the SDGs, particularly those related to affordable and clean energy, climate action, and sustainable cities and communities.

This programme aims to equip participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to drive the energy transition in their respective regions, fostering a collaborative effort towards a sustainable energy future.
